Maxine is a senior family law lawyer in Aurora, Ontario, with a Bay Street background. She is formerly a partner of one of Canada's largest full-service law firms, where she practised in the areas of family law, civil litigation and corporate restructuring. In her first 10 years of practice, Maxine was privileged to work closely with several lawyers who went on to become judges of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
Maxine has considerable experience in both court and mediation. She knows the law. She is able to get people to open up, so she can learn the facts of their case and what matters most to them. Maxine will assess likely outcomes, based on how the law applies to the facts in issue. Maxine helps parties to craft workable agreements.
Maxine is the co-President Elect of the Ontario Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC-O). Through this organization, she has had the pleasure of serving with Dr. Polak on numerous family justice initiatives, including the AFCC-O Parenting Plan Guide.
Maxine is a frequent instructor for other lawyers and professionals in continuing legal education programs, presented by AFCC-O, the York Region Law Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Law Society of Ontario, The Advocates’ Society, Osgoode Hall Law School and GTA Accountants Network.
Maxine is a graduate of the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. In addition, she holds an Executive MBA degree, earned from the Rotman School of Business, and a bilingual undergraduate degree in Political Science.
Maxine grew up on a farm. She understands both rural and urban concerns.
